Nice to meet you!I began teaching at Holy Trinity in 2018 and have been teaching in the Ottawa Catholic School Board since 2007. During that time I have taught grades 7-12 in both English and French. I love teaching in both of our official languages and also enjoy helping students discover and understand their world. As of 2021, I am a member of the 7/8 Resource team, supporting students with their individual education needs.
My Education My honours BA is in French Studies and, in addition to my Bachelors of Education for teaching English and French, grades 7-12, I have additional qualifications in French as a Second Language (Honours Specialist), Special Education (Honours Specialist) and Religious Education (Part 1). I frequently engage in professional reading and learning opportunities (courses, workshops, etc.). Learning is for life! |
My Approach to Teaching
Using a variety of instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of students in my class is important to me. Both high tech and low tech have essential roles in classroom learning, in my opinion, and I aim to leverage both to support student success. I hope to connect our classroom learning to real world experiences and welcome input from students and parents if you have ideas for activities or guests that would enrich our learning journey.
As a teacher I put my students' well being first. I hope that my students will have time each day to read for school and for pleasure, to be active and go outdoors, and to share stories of their day with a loved one at home. Above all, I hope students will take time to unwind and get a good night's sleep so that we can all be at our best when we meet in the classroom!
My Life
I am very blessed with a family that includes my husband, my daughter, my son and our dog. Things we love to do as a family include: gardening, cooking (and eating!), reading books, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, paddling, cycling, cross-country skiing and finding adventure near and far. I look forward to getting to know my students and their families throughout each school year.
